Day 4 - Feast or Famine?

Ours is a culture focused on food! For many, food is an addiction, an obsession, or at the very least—a daily “Battle of the Bulge.” The Bible clearly teaches that for followers of Jesus, God’s Holy Word is our spiritual food. The Old Testament prophet said there would come a time when God’s people would be starving for a clear word from the Lord. “’Behold, days are coming,’ declares the Lord GOD, ‘When I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, But rather for hearing the words of the LORD.’” (Amos 8:11)

In a world obsessed with diets and meal plans, spend some time feasting on the Word of God today. A balanced spiritual diet of Old Testament, the Gospels, the New Testament and the Psalms can give you the nutrients of faith that will equip you to live this day enjoying a love relationship with Christ.

Pray about intentionally skipping a physical meal sometime this week. Do it for the express purpose of feasting on God’s Word instead. It is God’s Word to your life today that will give you the strength and stamina you need for the living of this new day.

Today’s Scripture Promise: “…Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4:4–ESV)
